Rector’s greeting

Welcome to The Church of Saint John the Evangelist

A message from The Reverend Canon Christopher Pratt, Rector

Rev. Canon Christopher PrattWe are an Anglican parish community of some one thousand souls, and we have ministered in Kitchener-Waterloo for more than one hundred and fifty years. We embrace God’s people from a variety of ethnic and cultural origins. Our community includes those who live alone, those who cherish companionship, those with heavy family responsibility, young and old, engaged or unemployed, active or confined.

Our fellowship seeks to provide companionship and support for the spiritual and pastoral needs of those who pursue life’s journey with God as companions of Jesus. The heart of our life together is the Sunday Eucharist, where we affirm our identity with Jesus, our Redeemer and Lord. Here we acknowledge God’s grace and presence, and we find meaning and purpose in our lives.

Each baptised member of our community is called to share in the ministry of Jesus. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit, each of us identifies, nurtures, and offers gifts of time, talent, and worldly possessions to further Christ’s mission. We have a deep commitment to further that servant ministry by being his vehicle of healing and compassion to all who find themselves vulnerable and distressed within our local and global communities.

Some, like ourselves, are called and ordained by the Church to equip and to direct that ministry through God’s Word and sacraments. We, or other members, will be happy to respond to questions you may have about our Christian faith and practice.

We welcome you into this fellowship.
