Concert Season 2014-2015: The Mystery Solved

with guests Derek Conrod and Joe Sharp
Sunday, January 18th, 2015

Have you ever watched a horn player perform and wondered how on earth they change the pitch of their instruments with only 3 keys? Well, if you think that’s hard, it gets a whole lot crazier with the natural horn and zero keys.Tafelmusik’s principal horn Derek Conrod and his protégé, Joe Sharp join NBBP with a virtuosic concerto for 2 horns by Vivaldi, as well as excerpts from Handel’s Water Music. Along the way they promise to solve the mystery of the valveless horn in a surprising demonstration that will leave you awestruck and thinking “How do they DO that??” Not to be outdone, the NBBP strings will offer a Vivaldi double violin concerto of their own as well as a sparkling string sinfonia by Johann Stamitz.
