Children and youth are very welcome at all St. John’s services and activities and are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of our faith community.

Once a month on Saturday afternoon, we host a family service called Come to the Table. Congregants are encouraged to participate in the liturgical service through engaged storytelling, hymns and musical instruments accessible to all ages, and coming to the altar table to explore the deeper meaning of the liturgy in our daily lives. The service ends with a shared meal (though the shared meal is suspended at the moment due to COVID).

Please note that our Sunday School program is currently on hold due to COVID.

The objective of our Sunday School program is to provide a solid foundation for young people to grow in faith by teaching the central stories of the Bible. Children and youth gather at the beginning of our 10:00 AM Sunday service for a short talk by the Rector, often focusing on the theme of the Sunday service or an upcoming project or event. The children then spend time in their own setting before rejoining the rest of the congregation for the Eucharist or communion later in the service.

If you’re a parent of young children, it may be helpful to know we have a fully equipped nursery as well as a change table in the nursery. We also have a carpeted area with toys at the back of the worship area so younger members can remain in church with their parents. Juice is available during coffee hour after the 10:00 AM Sunday service.
